Do you have what it takes to become a Super Affiliate?
The dream to become a ‘super affiliate’ is something most of you share and desire but only a few of you have what it takes to make it. Almost every day I talk to new and existing affiliates and one thing they all have in common is to dream big, but one thing that separates the dreamers from the movers and shakers are their priorities. Most of the part time affiliates still work 9 -5 to secure their monthly paycheck while some others might still live at home with little no expenses and can afford to spend all of their money on campaigns. Those are clearly the exception and I won’t talk about them in this blog post, but if you are still working 9 – 5 then read this post carefully.
It might be an eye opener for some of you..
Usually you have two kinds of people that still work 9 to 5.
The first one is the dreamer that will never make it.
He usually tells you about some flashy car he wants to buy, a nice house he wants to buy and a bunch of other crap you are sick of hearing, course you already know this guy will never make it. After he gets off work and arrives at home the first thing he needs to do is to relax, course he has been working all day and ‘deserves’ a break. Once he rested a bit he will maybe log onto the marketing forums, read some blogs and MAYBE setup a new campaign and invest an actual hour of work into his affiliate marketing career. The rest of the time he chats up other people on his instant messengers, chats on the boards and pursues his personal life.
Friday comes around the corner and now he got 2 and ½ day off his work which he could spend setting up campaigns, learning new things and trying to turn a cent into a buck, but guess what?
You won’t see him online! It’s Friday and he worked all week so it’s time to hit the bars, kick back with his friends and get shitfaced. He ‘deserves’ his weekend!
I mean he worked all week, right?
This is the dreamer. He will never make it.

Then there is the actual mover and shaker, the entrepreneur with spirit and passion for what he does.
He still works 9-5, has a remote desktop on his smartphone, so he can check campaigns and stats while working his day job. Once the clock hits 5pm, he races home to check his computer while shoveling down his dinner. He probably hasn’t even taken his shoes off or changed his clothes but he is already 100% focused on his affiliate career. He know he has good 6 hours to go before he calls it a day, so he gets cracking and tries to get as much work done as possible. Before he calls it a day and goes to bed, which usually doesn’t happen before 1am, he ends up setting up new campaigns, optimizing existing ones, working on his blogs while waiting for ad-approvals and brainstorming with his mastermind group on Skype. Now he gets a straight 5 hours of sleep and knows that tomorrow is Friday and he has almost 3 full days to focus on his affiliate career. He gets excited and almost can’t sleep course his mind is racing about the campaigns he set up earlier today and all the ideas he will put into action once the weekend is here.
Friday is here and guess what?
He races home again and starts working from Friday till Sunday with little to no sleep!
That’s the type of guy that will make it. He doesn’t only have the fire and desire to break out of the rat race, he actually puts his thoughts into action and changes his life one by one.
His social life might suffer, he might be seen as a weird nerd by his colleagues course he doesn’t show up at the bar every Friday night, but that doesn’t matter to him. Course he got his priorities right. He knows one day his laughing colleagues might be asking him for a job and who will have the last laugh then?
For some people there might be a good balance, kind of like a gray area but personally I will always see things black or white. There is no ‘this steak tastes ok’. Either it tastes fucking awesome or it tastes like the sole of your shoe!
Go big or go home!
When I started out I was working as a trainee in a 9-5 environment. I hated everything about this job. I knew that I will never end up like the people around me. This basic middle class life style wasn’t for me. 30 days you get to go on holidays per year, some lousy Christmas bonus and bucket of flowers on your birthday. Hell no, I had to get out of there!
To cut things short, I just quit. It wasn’t really planned or fully thought through – I just woke up one morning and knew that’s it. Today is the day I quit. I didn’t have anything to fall back on but around 2 months worth of living expenses in the bank and some shitty apartment in a ‘sketchy’ neighbourhood.
I was confident to make it and I worked pretty much 24/7 course I knew I had to kick some gears in, in order to survive and reach my goals.
Other affiliates succeeded so if I work twice as hard as them, I will get by somehow. So I did. My social life went completely in the shitter and I could focus 100% on the things I love and wanted to do.
I always wanted to achieve freedom and not have to report to any boss, co-worker or other form of authority. I barely made it and eventually went bankrupt in the first year I was self-employed but that was one of the best things that could have happened to me.
Once you start digging through your own trash for food course your fridge is empty and you spent your last $20 on paid traffic, you know you got some fire burning inside of you!
At that time, while being bankrupt and digging through my own trash for food (I could have asked my parents or friends for money, but I was too proud for that!), I met one of my best friends and future business partners (online). We decided to do a joint venture together and he would finance it.
For about a month I was glued to my computer. I showered like twice a week, lost a bunch of weight course I simply didn’t have the money to eat properly, but his roughly $5000 he invested turned into $150,000 after the second month.
That’s how we went from rags to riches literally. All it took was hard work, dedication and the strong belief that we could make it.
To this day we have grown extremely close, went through heaven and hell and build tons of successful businesses together.
Ask yourself – Do you really have what it takes?
Do you really give 100% to pursue your dreams or are you too comfortable with your current situation to really bust your balls?
Even after reaching a financial level which most of you would describe as ‘financial freedom’ I still have the fire burning inside of me (not the STD kind lol..). It’s just something you either have or you don’t have.
Some are gifted, some aren’t.. but if you don’t try and bust your balls you will never find out!
Hard work and persistence will always pay off.
Yours truly,
(Reverend) Jay

You are the man, man! About to sign up with your Forum, would love to connect on FB. FB.com/gamlin — I’m a PPC expert, own a couple porn sites, a few offers and I really want to crack adult.
Cheers.

Thanks for your kick (in the) ass-post. Can’t take credit for the following quote but it reminded me of a post by someone else I came across the other day, but man do I agree with it:
The most brilliant idea, with no execution, is worth $20.
The most brilliant idea takes great execution to be worth $20,000,000.
My take on it: ideas are worth SHIT without proper execution – work hard, play hard
Would you mind sharing how did u use that 5000 to make 150,000? I have invested around 2000 for facebook ads campaign running offers.i didn’t really profit but my desire is really high that i just want to make this work.stil working on spilt testing using facebook ads but it would be great if u can tell us more about how u use that 5k in full details
We created an offer that was better then any of the competitors out there.
We never wrote a business plan for any of the businesses we did. We always have an end result in mind, how we want it to look and function. Everything in between just happens and we ‘go with the flow’. While others wasted time writing business plans, creating marketing plans, exit strategies and other crap like that, we were out there putting things into action.
Walk the walk, dont talk the talk.. thats how you become successful.
What you mean is that you work together with a group of people? You didn’t start out alone to run campaigns?
Dude..
You nailed it… (as usual).
Great points Jay!
I’ve worked through many sleepless nights because of the passion I have for what I do. I’m afraid to go to sleep because I might miss an opportunity to close another deal, increase my income or tweak a new campaign. Internet is not a brick and mortar 9-5 business. The “Speed of the Internet” does not allow for long term internal and focus group testing. I learned long ago: Throw the ad up, see how it performs and tweak in real time. There is no data better than live data.
Being an internet marketer affords me a life beyond my wildest imaginations. Sure, the money is great, but none of my 9-5 friends can take a break to volunteer at their kids school or run off with the wife for a mid-week getaway. I can do all that while still accessing my business from my iPhone or iPad. In most cases, noone else knows I am working. They think I am checking Facebook like they are;-)

Hey Jay,
Awesome stuff. Your trip was very similar to mine to start with. I liked reading that because for a while, I thought I may have been wrong to quit my job when I wasn’t making pennies online, but I just did it anyway. You have to follow your instincts. I also had friends who thought I was wrong and bitched but it made me a better person.
Great blog too mate.
Oh my god! I’m the first person you mentioned above.
Okay now I need to shifted my balls to become the second person. I think I will read this post everyday. Thanks for this eye-opener. Btw, the last photo, is that you Jay in real life?
You beast.
